Abundant Wildlife. Hardcore. Beyond the Infinity Pool.

Chad is for the hardcore safari aficionado. It’s incredibly remote. It’s uncomfortably hot. But it’s a privilege to go to a place so far beyond the infinity pool. A safari to Zakouma National Park is as authentic as it gets, and witnessing the success of African Parks in stemming the tide of poaching is utterly inspiring.

Zakouma is a place of real abundance: Flocks of 8,000 plus black-crowned crane, swarms of over 10 million red-billed quelea, waterfowl too numerous to count and plenty of game, much of it unusual. Large herds of Central African savanna buffalo fringe the pans, Kordofan giraffe, roan antelope, tiang and a host of other antelope species roam the plains. Lion are numerous, cheetah thrive and the famous elephant herd – now numbering almost 480 – is a reminder of both past tragedy and future hope. Zakouma delivers the freedom to explore in ways that very few parks can offer in today’s increasingly regulated Africa. Extraordinary opportunities include walking with lion and buffalo and spending hours with the elephant herd. Zakouma is about connecting with conservation, not merely consuming wilderness.

Erected in the heart of Zakouma’s prime wildlife viewing areas in season, Camp Nomade is perfect in its simplicity and elegance, providing everything you need and nothing you don’t. The luxury lies in that you are part of an elite few to have experienced this remote and untouched part of Africa.
